The only school supported and supervised senior trip is to Disneyland.  There is a company that is advertising a trip to Puerto Vallarta after graduation.  This is not a school sponsored trip.  The school has no connection to this company and will not support any trip without supervision.

Parents as Partners in Web 2.0

This video is part of an on-line conference.  It has some interesting information and links for teachers and parents to both understand and use web 2.0 tools.  Toward the end of the presentation the presenters talk about the purpose of the presentation.  One of the purposes is to start conversation.  We, the parents and staff, have not grown up on-line as did many of our students.  Please feel free to comment or share your experiences with web 2.0 tools.

Thank you to all the parents who joined us at Back to School Night.  Please let us know if you have suggestions for improvement.  We apologize for the lights not coming on early enough.  We continue to work with the district so that the timers and the evening activities are aligned.

Parent Conferences are October 15 from 1:30-3pm and 6pm to 8pm and October 16 from 1:30-3pm.  Some ideas from parents in the past include prioritizing which teachers you most want to speak with, having two parents or guardians come so that you can divide and conquer, come to the afternoon times if at all possible as they tend to be less crowded and keep in mind that time is limited.

Information will come home with your student, be posted here and on School Loop.

Vacaville High School will host Back to School Night on September 9.  Please join us in the main quad at 6pm for announcements and opportunities to learn about PTC, Scrip program, Grad Nite, Josten’s, and Kidsport.  This will be followed by attending ‘classes’ like your students although in an abbreviated manner.  We hope you will take this opportunity to meet your student’s teachers and learn more about Vaca High.

If you are new to Vaca High or did not have a chance to sign up for School Loop last year, I encourage you to join.  It is a way for teachers to communicate with students and parents about assignments and grades in many cases.   Once your student has logged in using their school ID number you can sign up as a parent or guardian.  If your student has trouble ask them to see their teacher or stop by the office and see Dr. Gibson.  You can sign up by following this link www.vhs.schoolloop.com .  If you have any trouble please contact aeeds@vacavilleusd.org or karig@vacavilleusd.org or call the office at 707-453-6065.

Please do not forget if you drop your student off in front of the school pull to the curb.  Do not stop in a lane and let your student exit the vehicle.  It is unsafe for you, your student and other students.  A student walking between cars or in the traffic lanes could be hurt.  Take care when approaching the crosswalk in front of the school as well.

Wow.  What a great first day.  Students and staff alike commented on how smoothly things went and how good it was to be back at VHS.  Teachers greeted students at the door, staff smiled as they helped students find their home room and anxious parents of freshman dropped their now high schoolers off.  The 2008-2009 school year got off to a great start.
